Here is my interpretation of this famous painting by Van Gogh, which has been reinterpreted in countless ways. The almond blossoms are a sight not to be missed in Provence in early spring.

Cela fait si longtemps que je vis loin de chez moi. Cette mosaïque exprime la nostalgie que j'éprouve parfois du lieu où je suis née, de ses odeurs et de ses couleurs, des deux grands fleuves que je contemplais enfant.

I have been living away from home for such a long time. This mosaic is a longing I sometimes have of the place I was born at, of smells and colours, of the two great rivers I contemplated as a little child.

Je préfère y penser en français : La Vigne. Son vrai nom est Giuseppine. Nous avons acheté une vigne à moitié morte — je l'ai immortalisée en mosaïque pour en garder quelque chose. Giuseppine prospère, et ses fruits sont si délicieux que les oiseaux nous en laissent à peine.

I prefer to think of her in French, La Vigne. Her name is Giuseppine. We bought a half-dead vine and I decided to immortalise her into a mosaic. Well, Giuseppine is thriving — and her fruit are so delicious, we hardly have anything left after the birds go for them.

C'est une très petite mosaïque, une caravelle portugaise. J'en ai trouvé la carte dans un musée maritime de Lisbonne. Pendant des années, le thème marin était notre grande passion de famille.

This is a very small mosaic, a Portuguese caravella. I got a card of it in a Marine Museum in Lisbonne. We had a marine theme as our main theme for many years, when the children were small and we spent every summer by the Atlantic or by La Manche.

J'ai recouvert cette vieille table d'une mosaïque car elle était bien terne. Le motif est un vitrail Art Déco, et les couleurs sont des restes de chantier — j'avais tant de tesselles inutilisées que j'ai décidé de les rassembler toutes sur cette table.

I made the surface of this old table into a mosaic because the table was quite dull. The motif is an Art Deco stained-glass window, and the colours are left-overs — I had so many tesserae left from my previous works that I decided to use them all on this table.

Я покрыла поверхность этого старого стола мозаикой — он был довольно скучным. Узор — витраж в стиле Арт-деко, а цвета — остатки от предыдущих работ. У меня накопилось столько неиспользованных тессер, что я решила объединить их все на этом столе.

Grande pièce inspirée du portail d'un hôtel particulier sur les berges de la Seine. Les ferronneries datent de la fin du XIXe siècle. J'ai composé mes propres thèmes dans les deux « fenêtres » : Paris et mon passé russe.

A large piece inspired by a gate of a mansion on the banks of the Seine. The ironworks date from the end of the XIXth century. I made my own themes inside the two 'windows': Paris and my Russian past.

C'est un diptyque très reconnaissable de Matisse, ses découpages Mer et Ciel. Ma version intègre la harpe, le piano (un bateau au centre) et une sirène jouant du violoncelle. Ce sont les trois instruments auxquels nous devons notre passion pour la musique.

This is a very easily recognisable diptych by Matisse, his Sea and Sky cuttings. My version includes the harp, the piano (a boat in the centre) and a mermaid playing the cello. These are the three instruments we owe our passion for music to.

Это легко узнаваемый диптих Матисса — его «Море и Небо». Моя версия включает арфу, фортепиано (лодка в центре) и русалку, играющую на виолончели. Именно этим трём инструментам мы обязаны нашей страстью к музыке.

Cette mosaïque était destinée à être offerte à un ancien ambassadeur du Portugal. Le thème de l'océan me semblait tout à fait approprié.

This mosaic was destined to be a present for a former ambassador of Portugal. I thought the ocean theme was rather suitable.

C'est un tableau connu de Chagall que mon beau-père souhaitait voir en mosaïque. Ce fut un véritable défi : Chagall a utilisé environ cinquante nuances de bleu, très difficiles à reproduire en mosaïque.

This is a known Chagall painting that my father-in-law wanted as a mosaic. It was quite challenging as Chagall used about fifty shades of blue, which is a hard task to replicate in mosaic.

Это известная картина Шагала, которую мой свёкор хотел видеть в виде мозаики. Это было непросто: Шагал использовал около пятидесяти оттенков синего, что крайне сложно воспроизвести в мозаике.

This is a present to a dear friend. It had to fit into a suitcase, so it is only slightly larger than an A4 sheet of paper.
